SCFLTA 2021 Awards

And the 2021 SCFLTA Friend of World Languages Award goes to:
Jocelyn Pettigrew
Picture
As Programs and Partnerships Coordinator for the Richland county Public Library, Jocelyn Pettigrew  facilitated a connection and partnership between the Bilingualism Matters organization and the Sandhills branch of the Richland County Public Library. This well-attended event gave parents and children— from infants to elementary age— the opportunity to engage in a multilingual family story time and craft time, and furthered language-learning opportunities in South Carolina. Thank you and congratulations, Jocelyn!
And the 2021 SCFLTA Teacher of the Year goes to:
Myriam Grandjean
Myriam Grandjean
Myriam Grandjean is an international teacher who has taught MS German for the past 8 years, and has served as a curriculum writer and department chair. She has also helped grow new teachers in the field as a mentor and coaching teacher for student interns.
Myriam has been involved in the American Association of Teachers of German by presenting and helping her school district to earn the distinction of German Center of Excellence.
"Myriam embodies all that is great about public education and would be a perfect spokesperson for our State and a wonderful representation of what all foreign language teachers throughout South Carolina should emulate." -parent
Congratulations, Myriam!
